Perfumer's Apprentice give the odour as fatty, floral, orris root, woody, and state that Irival Oliffac 0612 provides different facets of natural orris absolute: floral, woody, powdery and gourmand. It is a colourless to pale yellow liquid filed in the floral family, used up to a few percent, holding forty or more hours on the blotter, and carries no single CAS, being a mixture. In a formula it is the orris seat that natural orris butter is too costly to fill: a fatty-powdery, rooty floral that lends body and a cosmetic, lipstick-like softness under violets, roses and iris accords, and stretches well because of its tenacity.
