Givaudan's own specialties catalogue describes it as a floral base built to match the scent of orris absolute, reflecting the different facets of the natural: gourmand, floral, woody and powdery. The odour index entry reads orris absolute, floral, woody, powdery; retailers add floral-orris and violet, very diffusive. In a formula it acts as a modifier of Isoraldeine 70 and ionone beta, boosting them and imparting a sparkling, vibrant effect, and it blends into floral-green accords and enriches woody and chypre themes. Unlike orris butter it is a mobile liquid, and the base does not cause discolouration.
