What does Pivacyclene smell like?
Givaudan gives a dry fruity peach note with a fresh green softness. It is tricyclodecenyl pivalate, and the house is explicit about its job: it is a modifier, used alongside other cyclenes and the gamma-lactones to cut their fattiness. That is the whole point of it in a formula. A peach built on lactones alone goes creamy and heavy, and this dries it out and puts a thin green edge back on the fruit without adding sweetness. Several days on the blotter, up to 5 percent in fine fragrance and cosmetics where the profile allows, around 1 percent in soaps and detergents.
