Givaudan describes Gardocyclene as a fruity floral and slightly green material, less anise-like than the other cyclenes. It is the isobutyrate of the verdyl family, 3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-4,7-methano-1H-inden-5(6)-yl 2-methylpropanoate, so it carries the same transparent lift as verdyl acetate and verdyl propionate while dropping most of the anisic edge those two show. In a formula it is a rounding heart material: it holds a fruity-floral accord together, gives shampoo and liquid detergent bases several days of clean fruity-green, and can sit under a green top without the licorice bite that makes the other cyclenes hard to place.
