What does Wood Base smell like?

Perfumer's Apprentice give the odour as woody, ambery, balsamic, rose, and describe the material as bright, powerful, diffusive and slightly animalic, built on rich dsm-firmenich captive ingredients that lend a fine unctuous character to a composition, with a fresh and fizzy undertone over a radiant oud-like warmth. It is a compounded house base carrying a mixture CAS, despite the generic name. In a formula it is a whole woody-amber drydown in one line: it gives projection and an unctuous rosy-balsamic body to an oud or amber accord, and a very little of it will dominate the base of a light composition.

Every regulatory join - IFRA, GHS, allergens - is by CAS number, and a material can supply one through its constituents as well as its own row, so of the 540 materials carrying no CAS number the 248 without a constituent table are the ones that return "nothing known" rather than "nothing applies". The blotter hours are sourced rather than measured by us, and the app labels every one of them an estimate. There is no physical chemistry on a row: no molecular weight, no vapour pressure, no boiling point. The longer answer, or the whole catalog counted.
