What does OLIBANUM SFE CERT smell like?
The house files it as Balsamic. Traditional olibanum, they write, carries a sweet, woody and balsamic undertone over a green, terpenic opening, sensual and rich and typically ambery; this SFE grade instead offers an extremely pure, noble profile, because low-temperature supercritical CO2 extraction preserves all the facets and purity of the extract. In a trial fragrance it takes a composition that leans greener and more stem-like, with vegetal and raw facets, and softens exactly those, giving a rounder, more polished impression that becomes more balsamic and gains depth and smoothness. Principal Perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin uses it to give vertical vibrations to musky notes and to reinforce their mineral facets.
