Sweet balsamic with a cinnamyl heart over amber, spicy, fruity and woody depth. It is a compounded synthetic stand-in for tolu balsam absolute, and the supplier rates its cinnamic heart as arguably nicer than the natural. Its reason to exist is colour: natural tolu is intensely dark brown, this is a pale golden liquid, so it carries balsamic warmth into compositions a dark absolute would ruin, with no supply-chain risk behind it. Sold already cut to half strength in triethyl citrate, which makes an otherwise unpourable material easy to weigh.
