What does Cuir Vitessence smell like?
Soft, suede-like nuances of fine leather: velvety, warm and subtly animalic, an elegant suede rather than the phenolic bite of birch tar. Odour strength is medium but tenacity is very high, with a blotter life suppliers quote in the hundreds of hours, so it behaves as a long-lasting base note that anchors without shouting. Alcohol-soluble only. In a formula it is the leather bed under woody-leather and ambery-oriental structures, sitting well with labdanum and benzoin, and it smooths a fougere spine of lavender, coumarin and musks without ever turning tarry.
