What does Oud Assafi smell like?

A wild-harvested oud oil from a collaboration between the Bangladeshi distillers Jalali Agarwood and Firmenich. Intensely leathery and animalic, balanced by an elegant woody depth, a rich ambery warmth and a distinct spicy heat, with sweet undertones underneath; buyers reliably read barnyard, clean stable and goat-cheese facets in it neat. In a formula it is a trace material and a powerful fixative: a drop signs a whole oriental or woody base as real oud and anchors everything above it for days on a blotter.
