What does Noir Prunol DL smell like?
The modernised de Laire plum base. Symrise describes it as supporting the roundness of the iconic plum note, preserved in the chocolate accents of the Tiramisone captive, the whole of it enhanced by a dark and spicy veil; supplier listings add candied plum warmed by Madagascar spices, long-lasting and hypnotic. It is a character base rather than a nuance: a small dose carries a whole dried-fruit heart through a chypre or an oriental, and because it fixes as well as it flavours it should be judged against the finished accord, not against the fruit alone. It is built on new captives rather than the original lactone-and-spice Prunol accord, so it is not a drop-in for that older base.
