What does l-Laurinal smell like?
Takasago prints floral, muguet, green and sweet, with a very diffusive bloom, and places it in almost any floral accord but mainly muguet and lilac. It is the chiral (S)-hydroxycitronellal made by asymmetric hydrogenation, and suppliers describe it as a very clean version of hydroxycitronellal: a delicate sweet lily-of-the-valley that seems to gain odour strength with time on the strip, tenacious and diffusive, good in white florals and comfortable alongside citrus. Substantivity on skin, fabric and hair is poor, so it works as a character material rather than a fixative, dosed under five percent.
What else is l-Laurinal called?
l-Hydroxycitronellal · (S)-7-Hydroxy-3,7-dimethyloctanal
