What does Galaxolide 50% BB smell like?
The benzyl benzoate cut of Galaxolide, one of the standard commercial grades ScenTree lists alongside the IPM, DEP and DPG dilutions. The musk itself is IFF's clean, powerful and versatile iso-chroman musk with exceptional persistence, a quality approaching the tone of macrocyclic musks; supplier odour tags are musk, floral, woody, clean, with berry and milky facets in the drydown. It holds a blotter past two days and carries bloom and lift into the base. The carrier is not neutral the way IPM is: benzyl benzoate is itself faintly sweet-balsamic, it is a listed fragrance allergen, and it can discolour a pale base, so this grade behaves differently from the IPM cut even though the musk is identical. Dosed straight from the bottle at roughly twice the weight of neat Galaxolide.
