dsm-firmenich file it under the musky family with the descriptors musky and ambrette, and call it a well balanced association of ingredients, some of them captives, blended into a specialty rather than sold as a single molecule. Perfumer's Apprentice describe it as a delicate and elegant musk built from fine alicyclic and macrocyclic musks, with a fruity-musky side from Helvetolide and Romandolide enhanced by Habanolide and Exaltolide. In a formula it is a finished musk accord in one bottle: clean and soft with a warm ambrette-seed edge, it sits in the drydown and lends smoothness and a substantive tail to anything from an airy floral to a detergent base, saving the work of balancing four musks by hand.
