What does Citrathal Tech smell like?
Givaudan describes Citrathal as having a distinctive clean-fresh, lemon-lime character and positions it as one of the more chemically stable citrus materials, supplied in three grades of which Tech is the technical one. It is a reaction product of 3,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadienal with ethyl alcohol rather than free citral, which is why the lemon-lime brightness survives in bases where citral itself discolours or collapses. In a formula it is the workhorse lemon-lime top for functional and alkaline media: it tolerates generous use levels, blooms well in soap and holds on damp substrate, though the house rates it weakly in acid cleaners and fabric detergent.
