What does Lilas Mauve smell like?
Perfumer's Apprentice lists it in the floral family as lilac blossom, floral, powdery, and other suppliers extend that to floral, lilac blossom, sweet and powdery with a frankly vintage character. Ventos supplies it as a clear mobile yellow liquid and gives lilac blossom as the odour. It is a compounded reconstruction of a flower that yields no natural extract, and it smells of both the white and the purple lilac, sweet and slightly soapy-powdery rather than sharply green. Perfumers use it as a heart in florals and chypres, where it brings a romantic and somewhat nostalgic depth; on its own it reads as a base that needs support, so it is normally built on rather than used alone.
