Both readings are true at their own dose: concentrated it is faintly mentholic, at use level it is close to odourless and works as sensation rather than smell. That is exactly what separates it from WS-3 and from menthyl lactate, which bring mint character along with the cold. Reach for it when a fresh or aquatic accord needs to feel cold without any mint arriving in the top, and expect it to add nothing to the pyramid.
