What does Jasmin Etoile Givco 144 smell like?
Givaudan's reading of star jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides), which the brochure calls a most elegant spicy-floral odour. Star jasmine is a different flower from jasmine grandiflorum or sambac: heady and sweet but far less indolic, with a distinct spicy edge in place of the animalic depth. The base carries linalool and indole, and Givaudan replaced the isoeugenol with an exclusive molecule of its own. It is offered for use in all floral and chypre compounds. Perfumers who have worked with it note it is cleaner and less smoky than the living flower, so it blends as an elegant floral heart rather than a literal soliflore.
