What does Indoflor Cryst. smell like?
Symrise gives the odour as animalic, floral, civet and leather, and files the material under animalic. It is a crystalline acetal sold as a key component for white flower notes and as a less discoloring alternative for skatole and indole, which is its practical point: it brings the indolic, slightly dirty depth that jasmine, tuberose and orange blossom need, without the yellowing those two cause in a finished product. The published odour threshold in air is 0.0063 ug/l. It ships as pale white to white crystals, so it has to be dissolved before use. Symrise recommends traces up to 1 percent.
