Givaudan describe it as a close reconstitution of civet absolute which it can replace in equal amounts, containing no animal extract at all. In a formula it adds diffusive warmth and supplies the distinctive effect natural civet gives to floral-jasmin, amber, oriental, chypre and tobacco accords: a trace lends body and a sensual, slightly dirty depth under white florals, while an overdose flattens everything above it.
