What does Cyclopidene smell like?
Tuberose, ylang, sweet, fruity, with a dry weedy edge, assessed at 1% in dipropylene glycol; the odour type is floral and the strength is high, which is why evaluation is recommended at 1% or less. The reason to keep it on the shelf is what it does rather than what it is: it is described as a very powerful floral modifier related to ylang that gives diffusion and lift, and it carries the salicylate and cresyl harmony that runs through many white florals, so it slots into a tuberose or ylang accord and pushes it outward without adding weight. Use level is small, up to about half a percent in the concentrate, and it holds around 16 hours on a strip at full strength, so it lifts the heart rather than anchoring the base. It is also sold under the name tuberose acetate. Not recommended for flavour use.
