What does Castoreum Firbest smell like?

Opens warm and leathery-animalic: smoky, phenolic in a calamine-lotion way, and unmistakably castoreum, with clear birch-tar facets and a sweet resinous undertone that softens the smoke. It develops a musky sensuality and turns faintly fruity in the drydown. Firmenich's animal-free reconstruction, a co-extraction of natural and synthetic parts that per the house glossary contains no castoreum at all. In a formula it supplies animalic warmth, leather character and phenolic depth to chypres, fougeres, leathers and orientals, and holds on a blotter for well over two weeks.
