What does Castoreum Givco 116 smell like?
Givaudan's specialties catalogue calls it a reconstitution of the natural oil which it can replace in equal amounts, built only from synthetic ingredients and plant-based naturals, reflecting all the typical warm, animal, leather-like notes. The catalogue odour index reads animal, leather, castoreum extract. It is a highly interesting note for chypre, tobacco, leather and fougere types, and perfumers describe the Givaudan reading of castoreum as rounder and slightly sweeter than other houses' versions, more perfumery than literal. It is worked in traces: suppliers recommend a 1% solution or less.

What is Castoreum Givco 116 made of?
What the supplier DECLARES, not the whole formula. A base is a blend somebody else made: an IFRA conformity certificate and an allergen declaration list the restricted and declarable substances only, so these shares add up to a few percent and the remainder stays with the house. PerfuMate counts exactly what is listed here and claims nothing about the rest.
