Robertet describes a floral note reminiscent of orange flower water, very delicate and cosmetic, slightly green with ionone undertones. It is a fractionation of petitgrain bigarade essential oil reblended to its most floral and woody parts, which is why it reads as clean orange blossom rather than as the sharp green stem note a whole petitgrain gives. Perfumers use it as a neroli replacer or extender, since it carries the orange flower direction at a fraction of the cost and stays cleaner in an eau de cologne. Its restraint is the point: it will support neroli or orange flower absolute without competing with them.
