Perfume formula template
By Omer Siton, founder of PerfuMate · Updated
A perfume formula is a list of materials with the weight of each and the strength of the bottle it came from. This template is that list as a CSV file, which any spreadsheet opens: one row per material, three columns, and an example formula to overwrite.
What is in the template?
| Column | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| Material | The material's name as you write it. Trade names and synonyms are fine. |
| Weight (g) | The grams you weighed, or will weigh, of that bottle. |
| Dilution (%) | The strength of the bottle the line came from: 100 for neat, 10 for a 10% dilution. |
The line above the columns, # Name: My formula, names the formula; PerfuMate takes it as the formula's title.
How do I fill it in?
- Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers or LibreOffice.
- Replace the example rows with your own, one material per row, in grams. Drops are not a unit: weigh.
- Write the strength of every diluted bottle in the third column, so the formula counts the material and not the solvent it came in.
- Save it as CSV, or as an Excel file: PerfuMate imports both.
What is the example in it?

How do I get it into PerfuMate?
Open your formulas in PerfuMate, choose Import a formula and pick the file. PerfuMate matches each material to its catalog and keeps the names you wrote, shows a preview before anything is saved, and works out the percentages, the dilution-corrected strength and the IFRA check from your grams. Saving the import needs a free account.
