What does Vionil smell like?
Bedoukian describes the neat material as a powerful green cucumber and violet leaf with orris notes, and elsewhere as an intense green floral with notes of violet and hints of walnuts. The Good Scents Company reads it at 10% in DPG as green violet floral walnut, rates the odour strength high and records substantivity greater than 400 hours at 100%. It is the nitrile route to a violet-leaf green: extremely diffusive and very tenacious, so it is dosed in traces, and because nitriles hold up where the corresponding aldehyde would not, it is the usual choice for green floral character in bleach, detergent and other aggressive bases. Bedoukian sells it neat as BRI 640N and at 10% in DPG as BRI 640DPG; this row is the neat material.

Every
regulatory join - IFRA, GHS, allergens - is by CAS number, and a material can
supply one through its constituents as well as its own row, so of the
558 materials carrying no CAS number the 257 without a
constituent table are the ones that return "nothing known" rather than
"nothing applies". The blotter hours are sourced rather than measured by us, and the app
labels every one of them an estimate. There is no physical chemistry on a row:
no molecular weight, no vapour pressure, no boiling point.
