What does Oakmoss Firbest 50 MIP smell like?

The dsm-firmenich sheet files it under earthy-mossy and describes it as woody, mossy and very long-lasting, with the typical marine seaweed facet of the traditional oakmoss extract; the Firbest moss range is offered so perfumers can rediscover the olfactory profile of old-time traditional mosses. In a formula it does the job of a moss extract, and the house states Firbest mosses are used at a one-to-one ratio against natural moss extracts, so an old formula can be transposed without refitting the moss level. It is supplied at 50 percent in isopropyl myristate, which keeps it perfectly soluble and convenient in automated workshops, and it is clearer in colour than the traditional natural extracts so it can be used in a greater number of applications. Composition is unusual and worth knowing: Firbest specialties come from a co-extraction of natural and synthetic ingredients, some of them captives, and the sheet states outright that this product contains no trace of natural oakmoss - it contains naturals, but not the named ingredient.
