What does Jasmonyl smell like?
Givaudan describes Jasmonyl as giving a lactonic jasmine effect with a mushroom-like note that blends well with lavender, and says it enhances the diffusion of a fragrance. The house supplies it as a two-isomer material, 3-pentyl-4-tetrahydropyranyl acetate together with 5-methyl-3-butyl-4-tetrahydropyranyl acetate at CAS 63270-14-4, and classes it floral / jasmine / lactonic with several hours of blotter tenacity. In a formula it is the creamy, slightly damp side of jasmine rather than the indolic side: it fattens a jasmine or muguet heart, pushes the whole accord outward, and its earthy mushroom edge is what makes it sit so naturally under lavender.
