What does Habanene smell like?
Bedoukian's copy, carried by Perfumer's Apprentice, gives herbaceous, leathery, peppery, with notes of elemi oil and thyme and a touch of citrus. TGSC files the same CAS as a phenolic odour and adds spicy, styrene, eugenol and guaiacol-like with musty, coffee and nutty nuances, and one supplier there reads it as burnt wood and roast coffee. Perfumer's Apprentice reports tenacity over an hour on a blotter, very good substantivity on damp cloth, and recommends traces only. In a formula it is a naturaliser: a trace roughs up a herbal, fougere or citrus top so it stops smelling reconstituted, and it carries a dry leathery-peppery edge into elemi and thyme accords.

Every
regulatory join - IFRA, GHS, allergens - is by CAS number, and a material can
supply one through its constituents as well as its own row, so of the
558 materials carrying no CAS number the 257 without a
constituent table are the ones that return "nothing known" rather than
"nothing applies". The blotter hours are sourced rather than measured by us, and the app
labels every one of them an estimate. There is no physical chemistry on a row:
no molecular weight, no vapour pressure, no boiling point.
