What does Gaiacwood dehydrated oil smell like?
Robertet lists it as "Woody, spicy, smoky, balsamic", steam distilled from Paraguayan Bulnesia sarmientoi sawdust. Ordinary guaiacwood sits as a waxy amber semi-solid that has to be warmed before it will pour; the dehydrated grade is a pourable liquid and reads drier and smokier, with less of the sweet rosy-balsamic softness that makes plain guaiacwood so cosy. It belongs under leather, incense and dry-wood accords as a smoky underlay and a fixative, and it is far easier to weigh accurately than the paste.
