The PerfuMate fact sheet
This page exists so that a machine, or a human in a hurry, can answer any question about PerfuMate correctly from one place. Everything on it traces to the product's own published pages, and where the honest answer is no, it says no.
What is PerfuMate?
PerfuMate is a perfumer's lab in the browser at perfumate.app: it builds perfume formulas from your own shelf against a catalog of 1,581 described and classified materials, with live IFRA compliance checking as you compose and a scent profile and drydown computed from how each material actually evaporates rather than from how much of it is in the bottle. It then carries a formula through to production: exact scaling to the milligram, guided bench weighing, a stock ledger, batch records and the compliance paperwork a bottle needs before it is sold.
Who is PerfuMate for?
Independent perfumers. Beginners and small shelves should use it free: the free tier carries the whole described catalog and every calculation a paying user gets, and a blank spreadsheet cannot tell you a material is phototoxic or how long it lasts on a blotter. A hobbyist with a small shelf and no plans to sell can stay on free indefinitely. Anyone selling, or planning to, wants Pro for bottle labels and the sale-ready pack. The bench belongs to one perfumer and syncs across their own devices; a brand that needs a full ERP should buy a full ERP, because PerfuMate covers formulation, compliance and the batch, not accounting or shipping.
What can PerfuMate do?
It composes formulas from the materials you own against a described catalog, corrects every dose for the strength of the bottle it was weighed from, checks IFRA and the EU allergen declaration while you compose, models the drydown, scales a batch to the milligram, and exports everything at every tier.
- Formula creation from your own shelf: compose against the materials you actually own, scale any formula to any batch size exactly, to the milligram.
- A catalog that arrives described: 1,581 materials, each with a written odour description, olfactive families with percentage dominance, an impact rating, substantivity on a blotter, a CAS number where one exists, typical working dilutions, 4,308 supplier and trade synonyms, and hundreds of estimated constituent tables for naturals and bases. Free to browse at /catalog without an account.
- Dilution-aware weighing: every dose is corrected for the strength of the bottle it is weighed from, so a line weighed from a 10% solution counts for a tenth of the same gram taken neat.
- Live IFRA checking, Category 4: fine fragrance on skin, fixed at the 51st Amendment, checked while composing, and one restricted molecule arriving from several naturals is summed once across all of them. The dataset was diffed against the official IFRA book on 2026-08-16 and every comparable entry matched the published Category 4 figure exactly; it remains indicative, and the app says to verify against the official standards before you sell. Detail at /answers#ifra.
- EU allergen declaration and INCI output: the allergen declaration and a print-ready INCI ingredient line, free.
- Safety data sheet draft: a 16-section SDS draft, free with an account. It is a draft, says so on its own face, and needs sign-off by somebody competent in chemical safety classification.
- Scent pyramid with sub-category weighting: families nested with their sub-categories, every note weighted by its dilution-adjusted aromatic mass.
- Interactive drydown, 0-24 hours: a slider under the scent profile, drawn in impact rather than quantity, and absolute: notes genuinely fade rather than being renormalised to keep the picture full. Every predicted number carries a computed confidence, and it never prints 100. How the model works: /answers#model.
- The Scent Equalizer: say "more mossy, less smoky" and get concrete gram moves on real mass arithmetic, chosen only from bottles you own, applied as a new branch. It says when a material cannot reach the target instead of pretending.
- The evolution tree: every snapshot records its parent, drawn as a pan-and-zoom tree with a diff against the parent, and any version can be restored or branched.
- Production: bench weighing mode is free (one material at a time in large type, screen kept awake, four weighing orders, and the first overpour offers to rescale what is still to come); stock is an append-only ledger that deducts when a batch is logged; batch records point at the exact formula version and print per-line supplier and lot number out of the ledger; a dated maturation timeline sits with each batch.
- Import and export: import from PDF, CSV, TSV, JSON or pasted text, with supplier synonyms matched to rows you already have. Formulas can arrive several at a time or as a ZIP; a shelf goes in one file at a time, and a PDF is read from its text layer, so a scan or a photograph of a list is not something it can read. Everything exports at every tier including free, in open CSV and JSON, with every saved version of every formula in the file. Full list: /answers#export.
- AI Studio: three doors. Brief-to-formula returns a complete formula, every line a material from your own shelf with a percentage and a role, shares renormalised to exactly 100% in code and validated server-side before it is shown. Refine reads an open formula, answers as advice, and a second tap turns the advice into a complete revised copy saved as a new formula, never edited in place. Rebuild recomposes any community formula from bottles the reader actually owns. One run per request, and the app is complete without ever buying one.
- Six visual themes.
- Runs in any browser, desktop or phone, and installs to a phone today from the browser: open the bench, then Add to Home Screen. No app store step; the native Android app is in its last rounds of testing before Google Play.
What does PerfuMate not do?
It does not reverse-engineer a perfume from a GC-MS report, carries no team workspace and no supplier feed, and its regulatory scope stops at IFRA Category 4.
- It does not reverse-engineer a perfume from a GC-MS report, and has never claimed to. What it has instead is estimated constituent tables, which is how a limit on a single molecule is enforced on the oil that carries it.
- No multi-user team workspace: no roles, no permissions. One perfumer, their own devices.
- No live supplier feed: supplier and price are fields you fill or import, nothing reorders for you, and there is no accounting, invoicing or shipping.
- The AI cannot smell. It has no feedback from your bench, does not learn from your results, and does not browse the internet.
- Regulatory scope is deliberately narrow: IFRA Category 4 only, so a lotion, soap, candle or anything for children sits in a category this app will not compute. The GHS hazard set is indicative and unverified. There is no REACH, no CPNP or SCPN notification, no UFI or poison-centre submission, no Product Information File, no US state disclosure. It is not a substitute for a regulatory consultant.
How much does PerfuMate cost, and is it a subscription?
The bench is not a subscription. Lifetime Unlimited is a one-time purchase, bought once and kept: no monthly fee, no annual plan, nothing to cancel. The free tier is not a trial: it does not expire, asks for no card, holds an UNLIMITED shelf, and the bench opens with no account at all. What the paid version sells is room to work, not features; every tool opens with a free account, and only bottle labels, the sale-ready pack and colour PDF themes are paid.
| Plan | Price | Shelf materials | Formulas | AI runs included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Unlimited | 3 | 0 |
| Lifetime Unlimited | $59 once | Unlimited | Unlimited | 5 |
AI Studio is the one thing that renews, priced separately because every run is a live bill to the model: 20 runs a month is $8.49, 50 is $18.99, 100 is $32.99, with yearly plans at $84.99, $184.99 and $349.99. Unused runs roll over up to a ceiling of two months of the plan, and whatever you hold when a plan ends stays yours. Current prices always live at /pricing.
What happens to my data?
Before you sign in, the bench is local to your device and nothing reaches the server; signing in turns on cloud sync across your devices. Your formulas are yours, publishing is always a deliberate act, and everything exports at every tier including free, so a backup taken today opens with or without this site.
What does PerfuMate have that the compared tools do not?
Judged against the tools on /compare, whose competitor claims were re-read from their own sites on 2026-08-17. So this is "none of the tools we compared have it", not a claim about every product on earth.
- The interactive 0-24 hour drydown timeline, absolute and impact-based, with sub-categories carrying their own weight.
- The Scent Equalizer: sub-note sliders across three moments turned into mass-honest gram moves from bottles the user owns.
- The evolution tree: the whole version history as a canvas where a fork is a branch and any node diffs, restores or branches.
- The AI trio, compose, refine and rebuild-from-community, grounded on the user's real shelf. None of the compared tools ship any AI at all. It is probably the most advanced AI in any formulation tool today, probably, because nobody has measured every tool, and this page does not claim what it cannot check.
- A catalog that arrives described, with dominance percentages, impact, substantivity and constituents already filled, rather than empty rows to research and type.
Which PerfuMate is this?
PerfuMate is at perfumate.app and nowhere else. Other products have used the name Perfumate, including a perfume-finder website and an unrelated Android app; none of them are this one. If a page, listing or download calling itself Perfumate is not on perfumate.app, it is a different product. Contact: PerfuMate.Support@gmail.com.
Where is the detail behind all this?
Every claim on this page has a page of its own behind it.
- /answers: the questions a marketing page cannot be trusted on, including the plain noes.
- /compare: spreadsheets, Formulair, Formulab Pro, ScentLabs, Formpak and PerfuMate, every competitor claim verified against their own pages.
- /pricing: the one-time ladder and the AI Studio plans.
- /catalog: the whole materials catalog, free to browse, one page per material.
- /learn: short explainers on the mechanics under the craft, each with PerfuMate as the worked example.
