What does Tonalide smell like?
Sweet, dry, powdery polycyclic musk with a distinctly ambery, slightly fruity retro character, harder-edged than Galaxolide; still loved for vintage laundry-musk effects. No IFRA standard covers AHTN; in EU cosmetics Annex III of the Cosmetics Regulation (entry 182) restricts it to 2.5% in fine fragrance, 1% in hydroalcoholic leave-on, 0.5% in fragrance cream, 0.1% in other leave-on and 0.2% in rinse-off products.
What else is Tonalide called?
AHTN · Fixolide · Acetyl hexamethyl tetralin
