What does Salicynile smell like?

The house sheet gives it as the smell of a delicate bouquet of white flowers with fruity notes reminiscent of banana and pear, with nuances of solar flowers giving a sunny and radiant effect, and files it under FLORAL, WHITE FLOWER. Its job in a formula is spelled out plainly: it is used as a salicylate top note in place of hexyl or amyl salicylate, or as a versatile floral building block, and the sheet stresses that it is much more stable than the salicylates it stands in for, especially in home care, blending particularly well with all kinds of floral or fougere accords. That stability is the whole point of reaching for it. The sheet marks it as a top and heart note and it lasts two days on a smelling strip, which puts its real centre of gravity in the heart. Fine fragrance dosage runs from a few tenths of a percent up to a couple of percent, so it is a body material rather than a trace one, and it is a Firmenich signature molecule with no other existing supplier.
