What does Neobutenone Alpha smell like?
Firmenich calls it green, fruity, floral and extremely powerful, the purest expression of a classic green galbanum-type note with an amazing pineapple effect in fruity green accords. Its character is dose-dependent in a way few materials are: floral around 0.01 percent, green around 0.1 percent and fruity around 1 percent, so the same bottle does three different jobs depending on how hard it is pushed. It is the same molecule as Dynascone and Galbascone but made by a different synthesis route, and is reported greener, cleaner and less fruity than those, so it is weighed differently rather than swapped in one for one. Extremely diffusive, it holds well over 72 hours on a blotter and is typically dosed at trace level to give a green accord bloom.
