What does Cassis Base 345B smell like?
Green, fruity and floral. This diffusive specialty imbues any fragrance with the green, fruity, floral character of blackcurrant buds combined with the freshness of the boxwood shrub: tart juicy berry over crushed blackcurrant leaf, with a rosy edge that makes it read as floral as much as fruity. It is the reference cassis note and the standard stand-in for blackcurrant bud absolute, but it is potent and sharply sulphurous at the top, so it belongs in traces; overdosed it turns scented-candle. Firmenich now supply version 345F in its place, which is greener, cooler and tarter with a longer shelf life, so the two are not interchangeable in an existing formula.
