What does Calamus Essential Oil smell like?

Warm, spicy-woody rooty oil with a leathery, slightly cinnamic and earthy sweetness. Classic old-school fixative note for chypre, leather and amber compositions. Payan Bertrand's Korean calamus oil (steam-distilled rhizomes) is classified H317, H319 and H411, and its IFRA 51 certificate caps it at 0.447% of a fine fragrance: the oil carries 2.24% cis- and trans-asarone, a prohibited-as-such material allowed only as a trace inside a natural, plus 0.51% methyl eugenol, 0.58% thujone and 0.07% estragole, all with standards of their own. The declared allergens are linalool 2.19%, limonene 1.93%, citronellol 0.38%, geraniol 0.24%, citral 0.20%, isoeugenol 0.012%.
